OSVC Mixed B had their 3rd match night at St Mary’s on Friday. We faced Solent Mixed Spikers who we’d beaten the previous week and OSVC Mixed A (Average Joe’s) – the local derby!

OSVC B had yet another slow start to their first game; losing too many points on receive serve and went too far down to come back from or do any real damage. Once they found their rhythm though they had some great sections of play, with the outside hitters getting most points for them. In another good battle, OSVC levelled the game at 1:1 but lost the all important tie break to lose the match. The performance in the second set was inspiring so this should be taken as a positive step into the next matches.

Up second was the local derby – OSVC B v OSVC A - Neither team wanting to lose! OSVC A has a slightly depleted team with Tobes missing and Baz injured and had to field a less experienced team. OSVC B, coming of the back of a loss, had everything to play for and wanted to prove their worth. In a game of mixed quality and skill OSVC B eventually came out on top to win 2:0 but the scores were closer than they’d hoped!

Well done OSVC B. Another victory to our team moves us off bottom spot (I think)
